Chapter 1
The Dream
His black hair, dripping wet from the rain, curled under his chin ever so slightly. His t-shirt, soaked, clung to his skin. He held his hand out to me, just out of reach. I shifted my body closer to him, inches away. Then, he started walking back, a pained expression on his face, terrified. No. not walking, more like he was being pulled back, farther and farther into the black, misty forest .This was the end for him, pulled to his death. I felt something pull at me, I shot backwards then¦
I shot up, soaked with sweat, in my bed.
“It was just a dream, I murmured to myself. Veronica ran in.
“I heard you scream. Are you ok? She was holding a bat in one hand and a taser in the other. Hey, you never know.
“Im fine, I replied, untwisting my sheets from my legs and crossing one leg over the other. Veronica kneeled on the bed in front of me.
“Listen. Youve been having nightmares ever since we moved here. I think we should look at finding a different place in California than La, Veronica and I are sisters. Our parents died when I was six and she was eight. We lived with our aunt until Veronica turned eighteen this year.
“Louisiana, I burst out.
“What the heck is that?
“I dont know. I think its a state or something. Its just the people in my dreams always want me to go to Louisiana. V, I think its a sign, I said, standing up.
“Alexandria, I have something to ask you, she said calmly, “what the heck have you been smoking?
“Nothing, and dont yell at me! Its either me always being in pain or we find a solution.
“Ugh. Start packing.
