What is it about vampires?

Looking around this website, I see there are lots of different reasons for people being into vampires.

So, what is it about vampires that appeals to you? Why are you one? Why do you want to be one?

Mostly, when I watch or read vampire stories, I know it's not true - I realise these are mythical creatures. But that's never stopped me relating. There are lots of similar 'monsters' - werewolves, mummies, zombies - but do any of them have the same following as vampires?

I am a person interested in life, in humans. It seems to me tho, that vampires as a means to tell a story, or in our need to be one or to be bitten by one, make the biggest statement about being human. The undead say so much about the living. What do you think?

`I don't have any...illusions regarding this subject...mythical creatures indeed..and yet. as you say, somehow, used to represent living humans...they may say so much about the living. And perhaps that is the reason for the interest...a different perspective...from our opposites...

...differences seem interesting to humanity...at least in fiction, if not always in reality...and also...it may attract people such as myself...who have always been different...not in a ficticious or illusionary way...but in very real ways...

Perhaps it will attract those that have always felt like outsiders...on account of colour of skin...creed...disability...sexuality...whatever...as long as it is different from the considered norms of the time...

In some ways so opposite...and in others...ultimately, existing to describe ourselves....our emotions...our desires...in a different guise...and that is...

but i'm not delusional, vampires aren't real or at least haven't been proved to be real.

like most mythical creatures - werewolves, zombies, ghosts, god...
i believe there is a possibility they may have some truth behind the myth but what we may want to believe may have been subject to countless generations of 'chinese whispers' and the truth would now be so distorted that if we met one of these things, we probably wouldn't recognise it.

`This is the question that always stumps people..."Are Vampyres real?" And to be honest on giving my opinion I believe that "HOllyWood" has put this image in our heads....wings, fangs, unquincable blood ----s, mists...but in all reality they are just like normal people...EXCEPT they are not quite normal. I believe these are the people that could fall into the category of your "different and strange, disturbed" group. Not all fall into that category. It is a lifestyle...something you breath...it's like hip hop...a genre of music. When you listen to a type of music you become so involved and intrigued that you mold yourself into what your listening to. You start dressing like the music, talking like the music, and in the end your just...LIVING. Vampyre or not.....I have yet to meet an "immortal" or an "ancient" vampyre. All i can say from what I've seen and experienced is that yes..they are real. But not the way HollyWood portrays them to appear.

`Vampyres do drink blood..but some also feed off of energy. We are not immortal and so many are misleaded by what Hollywood portrays us to be. We are like any other being..except we have different urges...different lifestyles. We are human in body but our souls are of another world. I know alot of people may think us to be "fiction". Every is entitled to their own opinion. For me...I was one of them people that was interested but I didn't give it much attention..until things started to happen. I was born this way....a full blood. And in time I started to realize things that made no sense...I awakened about 4 months ago. (a vampyric term meaning when you have self realization of what you are.) Not many mundanes (another vampyric term for non-vampyric) understand or are willing to understand this lifestyle. And I respect that..but it is a lifestyle...a belief like any other relegion.
